Its beaches
Ibiza is surrounded by beaches with crystal-clear waters and fine sand. Whether you prefer lively beaches with beach bars (chiringuito) or quiet little coves surrounded by nature, the island has got it.
Its nightlife
Ibiza is world-renowned for its club and party scene (I can name Pacha and Hï Ibiza, for example). With internationally renowned DJs and spectacular parties, it’s a paradise for those who love to dance and party.
That’s not particularly my case, so if you don’t either, keep reading this article – I promise you Ibiza is worth it for so many other things!
Its cultural heritage
As well as its beaches and nightlife, Ibiza has a rich heritage. Discover Ibiza’s old town, Dalt Vila, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and explore its historic streets and ancient monuments.
Its nature
The island also offers superb natural scenery, from pine-covered hills to impressive cliffs. It’s an ideal playground for hikers and nature lovers.
Observe Es Vedrà, one of the Balearic Islands’ must-see sight, from Ibiza :
The best vantage point for admiring Es Vedrà is the official viewpoint near Cala d’Hort. From here, you have an uninterrupted view of the island, making it a perfect spot for photography, especially at sunset. Another popular vantage point is the beach at Cala d’Hort itself, offering a wonderful place to relax while gazing out over the island.
Es Vedrà, an emblematic place:
Es Vedrà is one of Ibiza’s most mystical and emblematic sites. This small limestone island, located off the West coast of Ibiza, rises majestically almost 400 metres above the sea. Es Vedrà is shrouded in legend and myth, some saying it is the summit of the lost city of Atlantis, others that it possesses a special magnetic energy.
A spirit of relaxation and freedom
Ibiza embodies a relaxed lifestyle. It’s the perfect place to escape the stress of everyday life and recharge your batteries.
What to do in Ibiza in 1 week: activities suggested
Here are some activities ideas for a week on Ibiza. You’re free to pick and choose from my ideas for your holiday on the island.
Discover the town of Ibiza
Start your Ibiza adventure by immersing yourself in the island’s history and culture. Visit Dalt Vila, the old town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Stroll through its cobbled streets, admire Ibiza Cathedral and the breathtaking views over the sea. In the evening, get a taste of local life by exploring the harbour’s restaurants and bars.
🍹In the old town, I particularly like the tapas bar S’Escalinata! It’s located in a little street with stairs and the tables are set up on them. Great atmosphere!
👉 You can enhance your visit to Ibiza with a free tour in English. Free does not mean free but that you leave what you wish to the guide at the end of the tour. This is a great way to discover Ibiza Town from a new angle with a local guide.
The famous beaches of the South
The south of Ibiza is renowned for its magnificent beaches. Spend the day at Playa d’en Bossa or Ses Salines, where you can relax on the fine sand, swim in the crystal-clear waters and enjoy the lively chiringuitos.
Explore its botanical garden: Bibo Park
👉 For your convenience, remember to book your tickets in advance.
A day in Formentera
If Ibiza is renowned for its heavenly beaches, we mustn’t forget its neighbour, Formentera, often considered to have some of the most beautiful beaches in the Mediterranean. You can (and I encourage you to) choose to devote a day to this island. Ferries leave regularly from the port of Ibiza and the journey is quick, making this a perfectly feasible day trip.
Once in Formentera, you’ll be amazed by the endless beaches, with their turquoise waters and fine sand. It’s the perfect place to relax, swim and soak up the sun in unspoilt natural surroundings. As well as the beaches, Formentera also offers some beautiful hiking trails.
👉 For your convenience, remember to book your boat ticket to Formentera in advance.
Exploring the North of Ibiza
The North of Ibiza is in stark contrast to the South. There, the atmosphere is more peaceful and the landscapes more unspoilt. Explore villages such as Sant Joan and Sant Miquel. Take advantage of this region’s wilder, less crowded beaches for a relaxing day away from the hustle and bustle.
🛶 Activity idea: stand-up paddle around Portinatx!
The stand-up paddle excursion around Portinatx offers an exceptional view of Ibiza’s coastal landscapes. This activity is suitable for everyone, whether you are a beginner or an experienced paddler. Portinatx, in the North of Ibiza, is famous for its calm, crystal-clear waters, ideal for stand-up paddling.
As usual, I recommend that you book your activity in advance.

Hiking in the Ibizan countryside
Get a change of scenery with a hike in the green hills of Ibiza. Discover breathtaking natural landscapes and panoramic views. Visit historic sites such as the caves of Can Marçà or the old defence towers.

Visiting Ibiza in 1 week: plan a boat trip around the island
Obviously, in my opinion … you must do a boat trip when on vacation on a island 🙈 There’s plenty of choice in Ibiza for a sea trip around the island. For my part, I was able to test (and approve): the boat trip around the island’s coves.
The outing takes place aboard a 60s boat called Salvador. There’s a really cool atmosphere on the boat, and the outing is done in groups of 15-20 people. About halfway through (a total of 3 hours at sea), the captain drops anchor and paddles and snorkelling masks are available. In short, it’s really top-notch! The price is €80/person.
Outings take place from April to around December. Remember to book in advance.
Ibiza's hippie markets
One of the unique experiences not to be missed on Ibiza is a visit to its famous hippie markets. These markets, with their bohemian atmosphere and colourful stalls, are an immersion in an important part of island culture.
Ibiza’s hippie markets are the perfect place to find handcrafted items, handmade jewellery, ethnic clothing and local works of art.
The best known is Las Dalias. I also recommend a visit to the Punta Arabí market.
Good to know : History of hippy markets
The history of hippie markets in Ibiza dates back to the 1960s and 1970s, when the island became a haven for hippie culture. Artists, musicians and craftspeople from all over Europe settled in Ibiza, attracted by its free-spirited lifestyle and natural beauty. These hippie communities began to organise markets to sell their arts and crafts, creating a tradition that continues to this day.

Where to stay in Ibiza for 1 week?
Choosing where to stay in Ibiza largely depends on your preferences and the type of holiday you’re looking for. Here’s an overview of the different areas of the island and what it has to offer:
- Ibiza town (Eivissa): For those who want to be at the heart of the action, Ibiza town is ideal. With plenty of restaurants, bars, shops and proximity to famous clubs, it’s the perfect place for nightlife and urban culture lovers. What’s more, you’ll have easy access to the historic old town and surrounding beaches.
- Playa d’en Bossa: Located close to Ibiza town, this area is famous for its long sandy beaches and beach clubs. It is an excellent choice for those looking for a beach holiday with easy access to entertainment and nightlife.
- Sant Antoni de Portmany: Known for its spectacular sunsets and lively nightlife, Sant Antoni attracts young travellers and music lovers alike. The area offers a variety of accommodation options, from budget hotels to more luxurious options.
- The north of the island: For a quieter, more authentic experience, consider staying in the North of Ibiza. This area is less developed and quieter, ideal for families, couples or those looking to relax in a natural setting.
- The east coast: Offering beautiful beaches, hidden coves and cute villages, Ibiza’s East coast is perfect for those seeking a more relaxed atmosphere and contact with nature.
- The west coast: Known for its magnificent beaches and breathtaking sea views, Ibiza’s West coast is ideal for water sports enthusiasts, hikers and those looking to escape the crowds.
Getting around Ibiza
To make the most out of everything Ibiza has to offer, it’s important to think about your means of transportation. Here are a few options:
- Car rental: The most flexible way of getting around Ibiza is undoubtedly by renting a car. I’ve been to the island several times and it’s always the choice I’ve made for the freedom a car offers. It allows you to explore the island at your own pace, visiting remote beaches, villages and places of interest off the beaten track. For a hassle-free car rental experience, I recommend visiting the Discover Cars comparator. The easiest way is to rent a car directly from the airport.
- Public buses: Ibiza has an extensive bus network linking the main towns and tourist attractions. It’s an economical option, although less flexible than the car, especially if you want to explore less accessible areas. There is also a bus from the airport to Ibiza town and another to Sant Antoni.
- Walking: In the smaller towns or to explore the historic centres, such as Dalt Vila in Ibiza Ville, there’s nothing like a good walk to soak up the local atmosphere.
