Tenerife, the largest of the Canary Islands

Nestling off the North-West coast of Africa, Tenerife is an island with many faces. With its breathtaking national parks, idyllic beaches and villages steeped in history, there’s something for everyone. Whether you’re a keen hiker, a follower of idleness or a culture lover, Tenerife has something for everyone.

Where to stay in Tenerife?

North of the island

The North of Tenerife, often referred to as the ‘green heart’ of the island, offers a different travel experience. The landscapes there are marked by deep valleys, dense forests and rugged coastlines. The more humid climate gives rise to lush vegetation. If you’re thinking of staying in this part of the island, towns such as La Orotava, Garachico, Puerto de la Cruz and La Laguna are great places to visit. They offer a blend of history, culture and nature. In terms of accommodation, the North offers a variety of options, from traditional hotels to more intimate guest houses.

South of the island

More touristy, the South of Tenerife is the preferred destination for those seeking sun and beach. The landscape here is more arid, but the golden beaches and seaside resorts such as Costa Adeje and Playa de las Américas attract large numbers of visitors every year. If you’re more interested in beach life, the South of the island offers a combination of relaxation, water sports and nightlife. When it comes to accommodation, the South offers a wide range, from large hotel complexes to rental flats.
